A few days after running the Black Canyon 100k in 2023, I went back to the trail near Black Canyon City, and spent some quiet time soaking in the landscape. I took reference photos and made sketches. I made sure to include in this print some of what made the landscape so iconic in my memory. Some of the key elements of February in the Sonoran Desert. Sentinel saguaros. Snow in the Bradshaw Mountains in the distance. More cactus varieties than meets the eye: you’ve got to look closer! And of course, the allure of winding single track.
