Athens Lantern Project
Join us in welcoming the cold winter nights! The Athens Lantern Project, led by Abigail West, is a free pop-up workshop making lanterns from reclaimed materials. Abigail guides participants through constructing their own lantern from hard-to-recycle materials like bubble wrap, plastic grain bags, and silvery mylar packaging. Instructions are provided, but we embrace all creative interpretations of the lantern! All supplies and materials are provided.
The Athens Lantern Project is made possible by an Arts and Community Resilience grant awarded by the Athens Cultural Affairs Commission and Athens-Clarke County.
Check out this YouTube video of Abigail making one style of trash lantern.
